Silence isn’t Always Golden was founded to end the silence that surrounds LGBTQ persons and their allies every day. For too long they have been forced into hiding who they are, who they support, and who they love. It’s time we stand together and raise our voices to end the silence!

The quick details:
Who: Hope is Ready and all people who believe that a good way to educate and end discrimination is to foster conversation
Food, refreshments, and entertainment will be provided
What: A formal (suit & tie or tux, nice dress or business formal attire) Masquerade Ball funderaiser to garner the money to bring education and conversation about LGBTQ issues to Michigan. The masquerade masks allow us to represent the hiding that people are forced into (the masks hide your identity), and we will have a ceremonial removing of the masks during the event so that we can show we are all uniting together to end the silence and hiding.
When: April 14th, 2013 from 7-9:20pm
Where: DeVos Place Steelcase room
Why: to remind all those allies and LGBTQ people who have been silenced that they are not alone, they will never be alone, and that we will raise our voices in unison to end the silence.

Stand with us, and raise the voice you have to prove that silence isn’t always golden! All people with a voice are threatened by silence, and it’s time to prove that we won’t stand for forced silence.
